Swallows swooping wild and free,

Leaves blowing in the breeze,

Gentle as the Irish rain,

That's my Madelaine.

Shy sun introducing day,

Mountain peaks rising far away,

A nervous fillie with a golden mane,

That's my Madelaine.

And when you see those eyes,

Open wide with surprise,

Everything is fresh and new,

Seen through her eyes so blue.

Baby birds learning how to fly,

Sky lark singing in the sky,

Honey suckle in a country lane,

That's my Madelaine.

Freshness of a summer's morn,

The rippling flow of golden corn,

Distant whistle of an outbound train

That's my Madelaine.
